Daily reality experience by the people of Darfur

(Nyala) - A reporter from Darfur Reporters and Journalists reported from Nyala(Sudan) that Matar Khair Alla Matar will be amputated in relation to Tadamun bank robbery case and will also be fined. He has crucial information linking senior South Darfur state government officials’ involvement in the case. The reporter further said that Matar confessed during investigation that senior state officials were involved in the Tadamun robbery case as they facilitated and coordinated the mission.
A group of eleven armed people were involved in the robbery of Tadamun Islamic bank located at Omdafaso market in Nyala in September 2010. Among them were soldiers and high ranking officials from regular Sudanese force. They took 257 Sudanese pounds.

(Cairo) - Two weeks of protest have passed and UN High Commissioner for refugees has not resolved problems of the Sudanese refugees in Egypt. The Sudanese refugees in Egypt staged a protest in front of UNHCR office in Cairo on February 14th till Feb 17th, 2011. Four thousands Sudanese refugees and hundreds from other nationalities forwarded their demands to the UNHCR office. But they have received no answer so far. The refugees request that their status be settled or be relocated to other countries where they are protected.
UNHCR promised temporal assistance which the refugees said that it is not a solution.

(Nyala) - An armed group attacked two crowded passenger buses on February 14th, 2011 on the road between Nyertete and Nyala (Sudan). Five people were injured, mobile phones of the passengers were confiscated and their money and belongings were taken. Four people among the injured are still hospitalized in Nyala hospital. The injured people are an elderly lady Halima Mohamed Juma who was sustained serious injuries, Adam Mohamed Khamis, Ismail Ibrahim and Yahya Abu Baker.
Lately, the voices, demanding the interference of the international community to protect the civilians, has increased significantly because the state government is unable or unwilling to apprehend armed groups who continuously attack civilians and commit robbery.
