Communists Leave Bookshop In Shambles

David Duke, a leading European rights activist, was attacked in Barcelona, Spain yesterday by a violent group of Communists while giving a speech at a Nationalist bookstore.
The speech, organized by Spanish patriot Pedro Varela (pictured), was given in its entirety before Communists ransacked the bookstore, which left a number of courageous nationalists injured.
It is reported that 40 – 50 Communists, whose group affiliation is unknown, attacked attendees of the Duke speech, but were met with a brave defense by nationalists.
Pedro Varela, former leader of the disbanded Cedade , meaning “Circle of Friends of Europe”, was uninjured in the ensuing brawl.
Varela is well known for his 1998 trial that lead to Spain’s first conviction under a misnamed “Holocaust Denial” charge. The court found Varela guilty of “inciting racial hatred” and “denying or justifying genocide”. Historians and free speech supporters questioned the ruling stating that historical investigation and the publishing of historical facts should not be criminalized.
Investigators began their case against the Spanish patriot by raiding Varela’s “Libreria Europa” bookstore, seizing over 20,000 books and a number of literary and audio materials. After the raid, which occurred while Varela’s sister and young daughter were present, professor of philosophy Fernando Savater stated that Europe’s current laws threatened free speech and academic inquiry.
Commenting to the court Varela declared, “I have never provoked racial hatred,” and stated he had “…the moral duty to tell the truth. As a historian, I must keep researching the past, and when doubt is not permitted, it arises inevitably.”
At the trial’s conclusion, the court ordered the seized books burned, although only 30 of the 20,000 books were in question. Satisfied with the court’s decision to suppress free speech and historical research, leftist groups were pleased that copies of the Communist Manifesto and the Diary of Anne Frank, also among Libreria Europa’s inventory, were not among them.
